Mace Plus project The Bridge Academy showcased in Architecture Today

28/01/2009

Recently completed Mace Plus project The Bridge Academy, continues to garner plaudits and is fast becoming one of the most talked about of the UK government's new educational academies.

Picking up on the pivotal role of design and architecture in the creation of an effective school, Architecture Today uses the Bridge Academy as one of its subjects for in-depth discussion in their latest issue. Experts in the field Piers Gough, Julia Barfield and Patrick Lynch comment on the way the academies programme has brought big name architects centre stage in the renewal of the UK's education buildings and look at all aspects of the buildings design and execution.

The article recognises the importance of the academy in driving social renewal in what is still a poor part of London and Gough comments that The Bridge is "a good place for children to grow up into".
