Information

Mace was able to assist client Land Securities in obtaining planning permission and the procurement of the main contractor for this project. The project also consisted of the redevelopment of part of the existing St. David's Centre site in a mixed use scheme including retail, residential, car parking space, a new library and the refurbishment and modification of the retained existing malls.

Extensive early enabling works were essential in diverting services such as drainage, which had to be set eight metres below ground using pipe-jacking techniques. In order to clear some areas of the site, temporary multi-storey car parks and a temporary library facility were set up to allow for a single phase construction scheme.

The main development comprised a two-storey basement with a new major anchor store, three levels of retail space with multi-level car parking and five floors of rooftop residential accommodation.

Within the existing retained St Davids Centre, Town Wall south was completely demolished and rebuilt complete with extensive modifications to the remaining existing malls and entrance within the overall time frame of the main scheme.

Retailers continued trading throughout the construction works.
