Modern construction for a design classic
Mace is working with Rolls Royce Motor Cars in connection with a new assembly line at its state of the art production and office facility at Goodwood in Sussex.
Mace is providing Rolls Royce with planning and construction advice associated with 12 different projects in and around its existing assembly line, in order to facilitate the introduction in 2008 of a new production line for a new model of Rolls Royce car. This includes carrying out internal pilling and the construction of a new mezzanine floor with 20 metre lengths of steel beams to be erected only five metres from the existing assembly line.
An additional complexity is posed by a strict prohibition on dust, important for the client as new customers visit the facility daily. Even the wood and leatherwork is installed using white gloves. Mace’s remit is to liaise with the heads of departments to integrate the relocation of sections of the existing production line in order that the construction works can take place. The existing facilities can be relocated and the new plant and production facilities installed by autumn 2008.
Mace is also overseeing all the enabling and construction works and providing construction expertise to the client team. Mace staff are seconded to Rolls Royce Motor Cars to provide management services and assist in the construction of proposed main site works associated with the introduction of a new assembly line at the Goodwood Plant.
