Expanding tourist resort
Mace was comissioned in late 2005 to take forward the redevelopment of the old Gulf Hotel into a new resort development to meet the growing demand for tourism services, which is a major priority for the government of Abu Dhabi.
The project is currently expected to be completed for January 2010, with all enabling works completed to date and with the main works starting in late 2007. The client Abu Dhabi National Hotels have an agreement with J. W. Marriott International to run and operate the resort for them.
The project consists of a 10 building hotel complex, 88 chalets, a Venetian style walk (with serviced suites, F&B outlets and commercial outlets), serviced apartments building and a spa.
The project is located on the island side of Abu Dhabi between the Maqta and Musafah Bridges, opposite the Shangri-La Abu Dhabi.
