Information

As part of the Heathrow Terminal 5 project Mace was commissioned on the development of four new Commercially Important Person (CIP) lounges for British Airways, under a construction management contract. The cumulative 14,500m² facility, commenced design in May 2005, with completion of all four lounges in time for the terminal's grand opening in 2008.

The impressive 7,500m² Southern Departure Lounge provides a variety of services to travellers in a futuristic style, which has become the flagship lounge of the British Airways brand. Central to the ambition of creating a luxurious environment for travellers, the Davies and Baron design required the procurement of suppliers and trade contractors from around the world and included a myriad of innovative and specialist features. The Mace team ensured a fluid and progressive transition from concept design through to operation in 2008.

Key features:

  • Four CIP Lounges
  • Sequential programme
  • Futuristic design (Davies and Baron)
  • Service offer flexibility
  • Significant interface with BAA Terminal 5, Buildings A & B
