Information

Mace Plus has recently been appointed by the development arm of Legal and General on a high profile project on London’s busy Oxford Street. The £9m project will provide a mix of residential and retail space.

Following demolition, works on the challenging, year long project started in December 2007 and will include underpinning of adjacent roads and buildings, piling and cladding to the Dering Street elevation. The scheme will have a steel framed structure and a complex basement that will be constructed as part of the works. The site is located in a conservation area and in order to meet planning requirements, the Oxford Street elevation has been retained and will be cleaned and repaired during construction.

Completing a new build construction on one of the busiest shopping streets in the world will pose challenges for the team.

Features:

  • New build structure incorporating both an existing retained facade and a new contemporary facade
  • New retail facilities in central Oxford Street
  • Incorporation of new EDF sub-station
  • Restricted inner city logistics requires careful coordination
