Tate Modern Extension to use innovative groundwater cooling system

06/05/2009
As reported in an April issue of Building magazine, the extension to Tate Modern is planning to use an innovative groundwater cooling system, using water from the aquifer beneath the river Thames. Mace Group is construction manager on the project, which will add significant new gallery space to the popular institution on the South Bank.
The groundwater cooling system is designed by Max Fordham Partnership and is a key part of the building's environmentally progressive design, reducing energy usage by up to 54%.
