09/10/2008

Mace Plus, the contracting arm of Mace Group, has been given the green light to commence work on Teddington School, a Building Schools for the Future (BSF) One School Pathfinder project, procured under the IESE framework for client London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Mace Plus has a strong reputation in the education sector, working on many key innercity academies.

Phased construction works commenced on Monday 22nd September and is scheduled for completion in January 2011.

Mace Plus project manager John Fraser said: "We are delighted to be commencing work on this project - the culmination of a huge amount of work by all parties involved over the past few months."

Phase one enabling works will take place between September and December 2008 and will comprise foodlighting, fencing, relocation of an existing hockey pavilion and groundworks to the main building site. Phase two (November 2008 to June 2010) will see the construction of the new school building and some initial landscaping works. Phase three (June 2010 to January 2011) will comprise the demolition of the existing school buildings and final landscaping works, including installation of a new all-weather sports pitch.

The new four-storey school will be constructed using steel and concrete. The building façade will be a combination of brickwork, timber cladding, curtain walling and render.
