Como gets a cannon at Little Britain Challenge Cup 08

04/11/2008

Little Britain Challenge Cup 08 turned out to be the most successful yet for the Como team who have competed in the event for the last four years. The event, now in its 21st year is the largest corporate regatta in Europe with over 250 boats and over 3000 construction professionals competing in the Isle of Wight over four days. The weather conditions ranged from brilliant sunshine to thunderstorms; no wind to 25 knot gusts that tested all sailors regardless of their and caused some anxious and exciting moments on the boats.

Competing in a Beneteau 33.4 in IRC class 3, the Como team came 5th and 10th in their class in the first two races respectively. In an exciting final race the team secured first place and got a cannon. The team were delighted by their performance given the stiff competition. In the final results, Como was placed 5th in their class and 33rd overall.

As the biggest gathering of senior construction and property figureheads, the main purpose of the event is to bring together companies and their top clients and consultants in an informal but mutually beneficial way whilst raising money for charity.

Steve Root, Como managing director and member of the Como team, commented,
‘This is a great event with excellent opportunities for networking with our clients and consultants while raising money for charity. And of course we were delighted to finally get a cannon at the event!'
