David VaughanMace Group Finance Director

David qualified as a chartered accountant in 1982 and then as a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation in 1985.

He joined the city firm of Longcrofts upon qualifying and progressed to become a partner in 1990. In 1993 David joined Chantrey Vellacott, a 55 partner national practice, becoming head of audit and accounting in 1997.

He specialised in advising a fast growing entrepreneurial client base, dealing with a broad range of issues including fund raising, business plans, capital structures and performance improvement. He has been advising Mace on these and other issues since the beginning of 1995.

In December 1997, David joined Mace becoming finance director, responsible for the finance, IT and facilities functions of the business. His priorities are to manage the growth of the business and to ensure increased shareholder value through both cash and profit maximisation. He provides the financial input into strategic corporate decisions and assists the business units in resolving day to day financial issues as they arise. This includes project financing, including bonds and PCGs, risk sharing frameworks and joint ventures, and new areas of business activity.

One of his current priorities is to improve the information and systems platforms of the business, through implementation of new finance and project systems and methodologies, thus improving project and company performance.

David lives in Turners Hill, West Sussex with his wife, Anita, and children James 16 and Natasha 14. He enjoys playing golf, fine wines and classic cars.
