Brian MooneOperations Director, Mace Business School

Brian started with Mace in 2004 and joined the Business School when it was established in 2006. Since then he has overseen the development of a series of programmes which have delivered measurable performance improvement of the supply chain on Mace projects. The business school has also developed a strong affiliation with a number of universities including Reading, Loughborough, London South Bank, Kent and Brighton.

Active in influencing the future development of supply chain companies in the industry, Brian sits as chair of the Construction Skills for London Business ‘improving business performance' working group. He has also presented at a number of national conferences and delivered a series of presentations in South Africa to senior managers from leading construction companies.

He has a background in driving industry change and was the managing director of Construction Best Practice and a board director of Rethinking Construction and more recently a director within Constructing Excellence. He was responsible for leading the industry change agenda set out by Sir John Egan. As managing director of Construction Best Practice he was also a member of the strategic forum for construction under Sir John Egan.

Prior to joining Construction Best Practice, Brian was director of professional services at the Chartered Institute of Building where he was responsible for the development of professional members. He was involved in the development of ‘adjudication' under the Construction Act and the role out of the Latham report ‘constructing the team'. He was treasurer to the European Council for Building Professionals, a pan-European body providing construction management representation.

Brian has also been a tutor and examiner on the final year RICS diploma course for the College of Estate Management covering technology, economics and law.

He has practical industry experience as a chartered surveyor and chartered builder working in project management and building surveying consultancy. He also served a full apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery after leaving school.

Brian has four children and plays an active role in their schooling as a parent governer and trustee for the school's activity centre in Wales. His interests include surfing and snowboarding.
