No mere mall

In 2005 Mace delivered this multi award-winning retail and leisure complex in Dubai for client Majid Al Futtaim Investments.

The Mall of the Emirates is the largest retail mall outside North America and includes two hotels and an indoor ski centre. The development represents the energetic growth of Dubai as the premier lifestyle destination in the United Arab Emirates, a region in which Mace is a key player.The retail component of the development has 420 retail units over 258,000m2. The mall is serviced by a four level car park with 6,000 spaces. In addition to Cinestar's 14 screen cinema, the mall includes key retailers such as Carrefour, Debenham's, Harvey Nicholls and Magic Planet. The public areas are finished to a high quality throughout with Brazilian granite flooring and natural stone wall finishes. Construction commenced in October 2003 and with phased completion, the mall was opened in September and October 2005.

Mace acted as the client's project manager throughout the design and construction of the development and led the procurement of over 60 main and subcontracts necessary to deliver the project. Mace has earned a great reputation for delivering high-end retail developments to a tight timescale and the Mall of the Emirates was no exception.
